Maybe I'm not that bright, but every program has a button in Help: Upgrade to the latest version. This is installed from the link above. I personally don't use Adobe Reader, only FoxitReader, which is smaller and sweeter.

Talaba Yeah, that's right, [Login to see the link]; I find Foxit Reader much smaller/lighter than Acrobat and has lots of features too.

And if you want a simple and even small/lighter ebook reader, I recommend that you all try SumatraPDF. Its name implies that it can read only PDF files, but it can actually open other formats too.

And it's free and open source too, so it's "guilt-free".

nodm94 I use SumatraPDF sometimes for comics, but Foxit is my main pdf reader. I like convert epub in pdf and Foxit reader.

The problem with other pdf readers especially SumatraPDF is that the document looks dull. Foxit Reader is fine but I think the pdf document in Adobe Reader DC looks crystal clear. Try opening one pdf document in Adobe Reader DC and other pdf viewers and compare them side by side you will notice the difference.

As .pdf was intended to extend and replace PostScript, it should always visually be the same.

bcb BUT there is a slight difference in fonts between Adobe and Foxit. In Foxit, the letters are more black, solid, "thick". While in Adobe, the letters are thinner and kind of pixelated. There is no such word in English. We call it "krzava slova." Although this Greenshot for taking screenshots gives a slightly blurry image, so it's not quite ideal. But Foxit has a better picture for me, it's smaller and does the job very well. Adobe is very "thick"....

It depends if it uses "Clear type"... which uses aliasing to smooth edges.
But if you zoom on the same place, there should be no difference.

You forget that the settings are the same for both readers. Foxit is better, smaller and thinner.

You could compare two renderings only if you have the same size of the letters (same zoom). Different size means different rendering.
There should not be any difference when printing on the same device (same screen, same printer...).

I also use Foxit as a PDF reader. And it is smaller and faster. But it should not change how the document is rendered. Especially on paper.
If you look at the font definition you can see that some fonts are rendered as bitmap fonts when forced to really small size. This is done to ensure readability at small sizes.
Your examples are not rendered at the same zoom. And also anti-aliasing can influence the rendering of your glyphs.
So... make it the same size on the screen. And than compare.
Pixelated fonts ("krzava slova") can be caused by many things.

bcb I use Greenshot for my screen grabs, too.

It has many quick features that you don't get with the OS screen grab tool. For example, Capture Region and Capture Last Region. Further, Greenshot supports plugins so it is extendable.

It's a great app and is available using Chocolatey, so it's very easy to install. When I do a reinstall, I use Chocolatey to automatically install about 80% of my software so there isn't even an install step for me. Greenshot is as available to me as the OS screen grab tool.

epub is different than .pdf as it is just .html. It is not supposed to be visually identical. Only "structurally" identical.
But reading instructions for drawing lines, polygones... should not differ. The only difference could be in using fonts. In case there is no embedded font an it is substituted with something similar.
