Avishai Cohen returns with Eternal Child, honouring the legacy of Chick Corea. Featuring Itay Simhovich (piano), Eviatar Slivnik (drums) and special guest Jeff Ballard, the album bridges generations through bold compositions. From intimate lyricism to explosive rhythmic precision. Avishai Cohen delivers a masterclass in modern jazz that is both timeless and transformative.

The chemistry between the three core musicians is immediate. Simhovich and Slivnik are young but deeply rooted in the traditions of the music, and they play with a maturity and instinct for groove that sits naturally alongside Cohen’s compositional voice. Ballard’s presence adds another dimension — on at least one track the two drummers appear together, a deliberate disruption that gives the album an unpredictable edge.

The ten compositions are all personal in origin: dedications to bandmates, a partner, a long-serving manager, and a Japanese fanbase whose affectionate mispronunciation of “blues” gave one track its name. The album closes with Closure — a piece that feels simultaneously like a finale and a point of departure.

Warm, melodic, and groove-driven, Eternal Child is a record built around two ideas Cohen has always returned to: melody you can feel, and rhythm that moves.
