Amorphis[amorphis] is a Finnish metal band founded by Jan Rechberger (drums), Tom Koivusaari (guitar and vocals) and Esa Holopain (guitar) in 1990. In the beginning, the band mainly played death metal, or death/doom, but in later albums he leans towards other genres, especially folk metal. The source of their lyrics is often the Finnish national epic Kalevala, but they sing exclusively in English. The name is derived from the Greek word meaning formless, amorphous.
