The three concerts on this album span a period of seventeen years of the Mujician Quartet – in Cheltenham in 1993, in Vienna in 2003 and in Birmingham in 2010. Mujician was formed in 1988. We played together for 22 years until Tony Levin's passing in 2011; Keith passed away in 2020. We played many UK concerts in our time as well as in Europe, South Africa, Georgia and Canada. The USA label Cuneiform released seven CDs (6 studio albums and 1 live). For me I believe Mujician was one of the greatest free improvising jazz groups in the history of this music. We never spoke about the music beforehand, we just walked on stage and trusted in the music and in each other. The music really flowed seamlessly. OK, it wasn't always perfect, we were always searching but when it clicked it reached some astonishing heights, almost out of body feelings. It felt very spiritual indeed. It has been some of the best music I have ever been involved with.’
