On these three CDs we present six original long-playing capital records by the world-wide renowned Kingston Trio. They played folk as well as Country and gospel music, and songs with a Latin-American flavour. Many of them are directly or indirectly political, and influenced by the sound of the "Weavers". The trio played timeless acoustic music that was appealing and surprisingly varied. Although numerous folk musicians were inspired by this group, none of them could quite match its particular sound. The Kingston Trio's charisma and humour gripped the public's imagination in autumn 1958 with their hit "Tom Dooley" which earned them a golden disc, and was the start of a series of million-selling albums. Between 1958 and 1969 the trio had 19 titles in the American charts; it was a decisive factor in the folk revival and influenced other groups and soloists.
