Description
This course provides practical games and proven practice strategies for students who are learning a musical instrument. It is designed for parents and music teachers working with beginner through intermediate-level students who want to make practice more effective and enjoyable. The ideas presented in this course are applicable to a wide range of instruments. While a few strategies are specifically designed for violinists or violists, the vast majority can be adapted for almost any instrument. There is also two scale sections in the course where I play 2 and 3 octave scales on the violin. These sections of the course are mainly for violinists, but other instruments can also use these sections to check their intonation on scales as well. Please note that this course is intended to complement, not replace private instruction. Students enrolled in this course should already be studying with a private instrumental teacher. The games and strategies shared here are designed to reinforce the concepts introduced during lessons and help students apply them successfully during home practice. It is also recommended that the student does one game during their practice session instead of doing all of them at once. The goal of this course is to transform practice into a more engaging, productive, and positive experience—helping students stay motivated while steadily building strong musical skills.Through step-by-step demonstrations, clear explanations, and practical examples, you will learn how to structure practice sessions that encourage focus, consistency, and steady improvement. These strategies help reduce frustration, build confidence, and create a supportive practice environment where students can develop lasting musical habits and a deeper enjoyment of music, creativity, and personal artistic expression.
