What is my Rating and Power?

Rating System

Rating is "User Evaluation"

Power is "Points a member has"

Members with high "Rating" can rate more than members with low or 0 "Rating".

So, members with good "Rating" have more power and prestige on SA.

Members with 0 Power cannot rate members, topics, or comments.

New members start with 0 "Rating" and 1 Power.

In short, this is how the rating system works on SA. You can rate any member, topic, or even comment.

Examples:

Rate any Member:

Open the profile of the member you want to rate (e.g., http://users.softarchive.net/Odissea/). Click the up or down arrow (UP if you like them, DOWN if you don't).

Note: Rating a member = 0.5 is deducted from your Power.

Rating in members profile

Like any Topic:

Show appreciation by clicking the "Say Thank You" button. If the topic (software, music, game, video, etc.) is broken or wrong, warn others by leaving a comment or use the Complaint button.

Rate Topic

Rate any Comment:

Open any article with comments (e.g., http://softarchive.net/blogs/faq/my_blogs__compilation.634076.html#comments). Scroll to comments and click + or - ("+" = Like; "-" = Dislike).

Note: Rating a comment = 0.05 is deducted from your Power.

Rate comments

Subtotal:

1) Rating a member = 0.5 deducted from your Power.
2) Rating a topic = 0.01 deducted from your Power.
3) Rating a comment = 0.05 deducted from your Power.

You can only rate if your Power is not 0.

- What about members with low "Rating"?

1) They cannot rate anything.
2) We will review members with low "Rating" and they may be banned for bad behavior.

- How to get more Power to rate?

Reminder for Uploaders:
Do not just collect Power - be active! Vote for members who say "Thanks" in your topics. Rate their comments and profiles too.

And no, you will not lose your Rating when you vote!

Do not collect Power only, dear Uploaders!
Respect members who comment on your topics.

Now, how can members recharge their Power?

You can gain Power if you are an Uploader when members vote on your profile, comments, or topics.

And if you are a Commentator:

a) Say thanks if you like a topic or appreciate the uploader's work. They may rate your comment and you will gain Rating and Power.

b) If the topic is bad (cheating, fake, virus, trojan, etc.), leave a warning comment. Other members will avoid it and may upvote your comment, giving you more Rating and Power.

c) Click the Thanks button and you will get +0.01 Power.

P.S.

SA asks post uploaders to rate comments from members who show interest to keep them engaged.
Also, all members can recharge their Power when their comments are rated by others.
It is an interactive system - everyone supports everyone.
